Christmas is just around the corner and as those golden oldies are dusted off, the festive juices will start to flow and the seasonal spirit will be soaring. But let's be honest, after hearing the same old Christmas songs played on repeat in every office, shop, lift, radio, basically anywhere you turn, it's really time to hear something new, different and innovative.

Rokpool.com, the website specialising in preserving music history, thinks it's time for a change, and with help from SongLink, are championing "Cool Yule", a songwriting competition to find the best new Christmas tunes in the world. "Cool Yule" will be a full album made up of the best submissions, so there are plenty of chances that your song may be the next "White Christmas" or "Fairy Tale of New York."

Robin Smith, CEO of Rokpool.com commented,  "We all love Christmas songs, but go to any party and everyone is dancing to tracks that are thirty and forty years old. We want to bring back the joy and fun of music that may only be heard for a few weeks a year, but lasts forever."
