FEMALE FACTOR SCORES AT MPG AWARDS 2018

London, March 2018: Sisters were certainly doing it for themselves at this year's Music Producers Guild (MPG) Awards with five of the gongs going to women - proving beyond doubt that music production is no longer a male dominated business. Producer Catherine Marks carried off the top accolade of UK Producer Of The Year at the ceremony, which took place March 1st at London's Grosvenor House. Marks, who previously won the MPG's Breakthrough Producer Of The Year Award in 2016, was nominated this year for her work on The Amazons' self-titled album, Manchester Orchestra's album 'A Black Mile To The Surface' and The Big Moon's 'Love In The 4th Dimension'.

RANDY BACHMAN TO RELEASE GEORGE HARRISON TRIBUTE ALBUM

Toronto, February 2018: Canadian rock legend Randy Bachman has announced the release of "By George - By Bachman", a personal testimonial to George Harrison's finest work. Available March 2nd via Universal Music Canada, the album is heralded by the release of "Here Comes The Sun", available as the first instant 'grat track' along with the launch of the album's pre-order. Lead radio single "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is the album's second instant grat track and will follow February 16.

London, August 2017: UK artist & writer/producer manager Mark Winters of Active Music Management passed away aged 68 on August 15th, having suffered prostate cancer in recent years. He was involved with the early career of Kevin Rowland (of Dexy's Midnight Runners & previously the Killjoys) as well as Bronski Beat, Taffy ("I Love My Radio"), Mash ("You Don't Have To Say You Love Me") and Maria Lawson who was launched via X Factor UK.

Formed in early 968, Jethro Tull have released 30 studio and live albums, selling more than 60 million copies worldwide. During their 50-year history, the band has performed over 3,000 concerts in more than 50 countries, playing 100+ concerts each year. The debut album, This Was, was released later that same year. Founder, frontman and flautist Anderson is rightly credited with introducing the flute to rock as a front line instrument, not to mention the codpiece! Jethro Tull are one of the biggest selling prog-rock acts of all time and their immense and diverse catalogue of work encompasses folk, blues, classical and heavy rock.

ZAK ABEL SIGNS TO SONY/ATV MUSIC

London, July 2017: Sony/ATV Music Publishing has signed singer/songwriter and rising popstar Zak Abel to a worldwide deal. The agreement comes ahead of the release this autumn of Only When We're Naked, the debut Atlantic Records album by the British talent who initially rose to fame as the guest vocalist on Gorgon City's UK Top 20 hit "Unmissable".

1967 TEENAGE OPERA TO OPEN 50 YEARS ON

London, July 2017: Youth Music Theatre (YMT) have announced the world premiere of the legendary '60s concept work 'A Teenage Opera', the show that was never completed. After a 50 year wait, the original producer and composer Mark Wirtz has teamed up with vocalist Keith West of the band Tomorrow to complete the rock opera for its golden anniversary.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF SGT PEPPER

London, May 2017: It was 50 years ago on June 1st 1967 when The Beatles astonished and delighted the world, ushering in the Summer of Love with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking masterwork that became popular music's most universally acclaimed album. To salute the occasion, The Beatles will release a suite of lavishly presented 'Sgt. Pepper' Anniversary Edition packages on May 26 (Apple Corps Ltd./Universal Music). The album is newly mixed by Giles Martin and Sam Okell in stereo and 5.1 surround audio and expanded with early takes from the studio sessions, including no fewer than 34 previously unreleased recordings.
