Emeli Sandé was a double winner at the 58th Ivor Novello Awards, with two awards for her smash hit "Next To Me", in the categories of Best Song Musically and Lyrically and PRS for Music Most Performed Work. Held at the Grosvenor House on Thursday 16th May, the Ivors also saw trophies going to Alt-J, The Maccabees, Errollyn Wallen (Classical), Dario Marianelli (Film Score), plus special awards to Marc Almond (Inspiration Award), Justin Hayward (Outstanding Achievement), Noel Gallagher (Outstanding Song Collection), Calvin Harris (Songwriter of the Year), Gavin Rossdale of Bush (International Achievement) and finally US legend Randy Newman (PRS for Music Special International Award), whose award was presented by PRS chairman Guy Fletcher and Peter Gabriel. Hosted by Paul Gambaccini, the Ivor Novello Awards celebrate, honour and reward excellence in songwriting and composing. They are presented by BASCA and sponsored by PRS for Music. The Ivors are judged by the songwriting and composing community. The awards celebrate artistic excellence in a specific work, exceptional performance figures, or recognise the outstanding achievements of a particular songwriter or composer throughout their career.
